In this article it mentions "It was in 1909 when Henry Ford, master of efficiency and standardization, famously said that a “customer can have a car painted any color…so long as it is black.” While the First Industrial Revolution introduced machines to replace hand labor, Ford helped usher in what was ultimately the principle of mass production; using those machines to produce large quantities of standardized products — an era that came to be known as the Second Industrial Revolution" although that quote is very long I think it is necessary to get my point across we are currently seeing an incredible way of manufacturing and mass producing products while occupying very minimal space, Henry ford has shown us and proved that there are huge leaps in fabrications of products like assembly lines which were perfected by Henry Ford during the year of 1913 when they started producing the Ford model T.
During this past decade we have seen many breakouts in technology but we have never seen an invention as big as the possibility of virtually designing something and then printing a 3D physical copy. I find that people don't fully understand what's happening at this point in time if we take this into perspective if you look how massive a Ford assembly line is and how many people it takes to run it sometimes it'll result in an average of 100+ people in a assembly line for cars and if we look at how many people it'll take to just click a button to print a car and watch out I could assume maybe on average 5-10 workers will be needed to print multiple cars in ideal circumstances.
A whole company by the name of local motors has devoted there time to create 3D printed cars which they has concepts and even prototypes already printed that can drive but are not street legal. Anyways my point here is we could be experiencing another industrial revolution which may hurt the amount of jobs but will also have many pros to it including faster production less pollution and even less space taken to create the work environment.
Here is a video of the process..
